Cna: Ethics, Advocacy And Enthusiasm

The CNA: Ethics, Advocacy and Enthusiasm

THE CNA has developed a code of ethics for the profession which it takes seriously, revisits regularly and articulates clearly in their professional communiqués.  Areas that the Code touches on include these values:

  • Safe, competent, ethical care
  • Health and well being
  • Choice
  • Dignity
  • Confidentiality
  • Justice
  • Accountability
  • Quality Practice Environments

The Association lobbies parliamentarians and the government to advance nursing interests.  The sustainability of the health system is an important issue for Canadians. “Nurses are concerned about the accessibility of quality health services. Canadians value publicly funded health care. CNA provides background information and evidence on issues, analysis of legislation, common messages, and suggestions for strategies.”  They are a constant presence in the corridors of power.
