Geriatric Care Managers, Geriatric Care Degrees, Geriatric Care Management Certificate
Geriatric Care is probably the fastest growing segment of the Health Care Industry. Our aging population has led to an explosive growth in Long Term Care facilities, Assisted Living facilities and agencies that provide Home Care services. Professionals involved in this work include Geriatric Care Managers, Home Health Care Assistants, Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Physical Therapists and Nurses who have chosen to specialize in this field.
Some Geriatric Care professionals work for agencies. Others work for or manage staff members in facilities that cater to the senior population. Duties include helping the patients with daily living activities such as washing and dressing, provided prescribed medications, checking vital signs if required, and just generally assisting a senior patient with limited capacities for movement or focus.
Management personnel in these fields usually are Registered Nurses or people who have studied Health Care Management. Those playing a staff role may be Medical Assistants, Nursing Assistants or any of the professions mentioned above.
